The highlight of my summer!

Sometimes I over think things…  and this post has been written about a million times in my head and to be honest I am ready to move past this awful habit of trying to make things perfect and just be myself.  So I am just going to share what’s been on my mind lately.  First of all moving is tough!  Secondly, I cannot believe it has taken me months to officially share about the most difficult and rewarding experience of my photographic career thus far!  It took me over a year to save up enough money and courage to attend the roots workshop on Cape Cod… and it was worth every penny and every tear!!!  Really there aren’t words to express my gratitude to my instructors, fellow students and Shawn and the rest of the crew at Vec Surfboards!  For two whole days I was given complete access to document Shawn’s story and found much more than a lesson on surfboard shaping.  Rarely have I met anyone so fully committed to being present in each moment.  It immediately took me back to a wilderness experience I had in college where we were reminded to always “be here now.”  It’s easy to fall back into just existing rather than living the abundant life to which we are called!  And sometimes it’s nice to be reminded of that:) I was also inspired by his commitment to put his daughter first and to maintain his connection with the water that led him to start a surfing business in the first place…  definitely something I am keeping in mind as I build a business of my own.  So without further ado…  here is what I saw in those two days.

p.s.  please load it in HD for the best image quality!!!

So, although I am a month (or more) overdue at viewing this incredible work of art from you (and this amazing man Shawn), I am nonetheless so happy I saw it. Gorgeous photography that captured this man’s passion – creating surf boards and caring for his family. LOVE it!
